I was let down when reading the WSJ today to find that a virtualization story failed to mention Novell’s solution. Understandably, few people realize that SUSE Linux Enterprise Server with Xen hypervisor is a very competitive virtualization solution. VMware, Citrix, and others have a longer history of generically ‘doing virtualization’. However, Novell has a long history of making heterogeneous environments work and with the announcement of its intention to purchase Platespin, Novell will be one of the biggest players in this space.
