Harbor Pallet

Harbor Pallet business cardThis is a shameless plug for my father-in-law’s pallet business, Harbor Pallet, in Anaheim, Orange County, California. I’ve been trying to get his search results boosted and after submitting to lots of free sites, was hoping to see a lift. I did notice that a lot of the attributed links on Google are from this blog so linking from the right column seems to have had an affect. I know the site is simple but it costs money to get a good design and HarborPallet.com is merely there for people to contact the company, not for online sales, etc. This cool logo on the business card was something I considered re-doing for the site but again, my friends who design aren’t cheap (who wants cheap friends anyway?).

My Loki

Loki C131 Ring JacketI got a Loki jacket as a gift from Novell for Christmas. I have to say it’s the warmest jacket I’ve ever owned and is about the most utilitarian I’ve seen. After one of our recent snowstorms, I played with the kids in the front yard and dug a fort (more like a small tunnel). I love the built-in mittens and the built-in hood. This is one of those things that makes you wonder what you ever did without it. I sometimes still wear my other jackets because the funky lime green doesn’t go well with some outfits, but I wish all coats had mittens, a hood, and a scarf—all built-in.

Gaim How-to on Cool Solutions

I’m finally a published man. I wrote a how-to for Novell’s Cool Solutions site on how to build Gaim on SUSE LINUX 9.1. Even though it’s not an officially released product yet, at Novell we get the opportunity to preview products before they’re released. You can read more about this on the site.

Trojan Worm

A guy that sits next to me had his browser infested by a trojan that hijacked google and tweaked a bunch of stuff on his machine. We’ve been working with all sorts of programs to get it off his machine. I can’t believe people aren’t locked up more often for stuff like that. I think we finally got it off but what a pain in the butt. I’m constantly reminded of how nice it is to be running Linux.
